BERLIN, October 14, 2011 -- aireg – the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany e.V. – is aiming to become the leading national center of competence for aviation biofuels in Germany.
During the ICAO Aviation and Sustainable Alternative Fuels workshop (www.icao.int/sustaf) Mr. Joachim Buse, the Vice Chairman of aireg, will present the German aviation industry´s biofuel efforts to the international community. Taking place in Montreal, Canada from Oct. 18th to 20th 2011, the conference will focus on current challenges such as access to financing, legal environment, sustainability criteria and research developments.
In preparation of the workshop, Mr. Buse said: “The German Aviation sector is actively pursuing its global leadership position. Biofuels will not only help us to keep our competitive advantage and achieve our ambitious emission reduction goals. In the near future, their potential will also be decisive in providing competent guidance to regulators and lawmakers. Due to our highly integrated and dynamic market, we see great potential in working closely with our international partners.”
As a unique cooperation of airlines, airplane, engine and biofuel manufacturers, airports, research institutions and others, aireg will act as a catalyst for sectorwide progress.
