SkyNRG serves first Middle Eastern airline Etihad Airways via Boeing “fuel from the factory” option

    AMSTERDAM, January 25, 2012 -- SkyNRG, the Amsterdam-based global market maker in sustainable jet fuel has supplied its first customer via a “fuel-from the factory ” option made possible with U.S. partners EPIC Aviation and Boeing. Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates becomes the first airline to fly directly from an airplane manufacturer on biofuel  and also the first Middle Eastern carrier to fly on sustainable bio-derived jet fuel.

    Practical trial of biosynthetic fuel at Lufthansa successful

    GERMANY, January 9, 2012 -- 1,187 flights with biofuel - First scheduled transatlantic flight to the United States with biosynthetic fuel planned for 12 January 2012. After a six-month practical trial involving biosynthetic fuel, Lufthansa is pleased to announce the first positive results. In all, 1,187 biofuel flights were operated between Hamburg and Frankfurt. According to initial calculations, CO2 emissions were reduced by 1,471 tonnes. Total consumption of the biokerosene mix amounted to 1,556 tonnes.

    Schiphol expands snow clearance fleet with purchase of new spray machine

    Düsseldorf International Airport Goes Solar

    DÜSSELDORF, January 1, 2012 -- Travelers flying in or out of DUS can enjoy a new sight: a field of 8,400 solar panels on an area as big as six soccer fields.  The installation of all panels is complete, and solar energy production is scheduled to begin before the end of the year.  The plant will generate two megawatts of sustainable energy per year, enough for 600 four-people households in Düsseldorf. A large monitor in the airport’s departure hall will display actual figures of energy generated and carbon dioxide saved.
